Child Advocacy (PGAL)

Private guardian ad litem services.

Whenever there are concerns about a parent’s ability to meet the best interests of a child, courts can appoint a specially trained, private attorney to represent the child’s wishes and advocate on their behalf—a private guardian ad litem (or PGAL).

We have experience with many different child advocacy situations:

  • Minor children of all ages (including infants)

  • Adult children with intellectual disabilities

  • Allegations of abuse, neglect or dependency

  • Allegations of parental alienation

  • Children identifying as LGBTQ+ or questioning their identity

  • Name and gender changes for minors

  • Representing children at trial

  • Parent-time disputes

  • Co-parenting issues

  • Preparing for mediation

  • Collaborative approaches to problem solving
